Matcha Monsters & Purple People Eaters (PPE’s) Shortbread Cookies

I’m pretty excited to share my spooky little sweet treats with you today. Aren’t these Matcha Monsters and Purple People Eater’s, or PPE’s as I like to call them, cute? I am so happy with how my initial idea for these fun little guys came out. And they taste so good. Very similar to my classic shortbread, but with two fun flavor twists. Can you guess what they are?? You might have an idea about one. (I might have given it away in the name.)

Bourbon Brown Butter Pecan Apple Pie Blondies

Happy National Dessert Day!

If there’s one food holiday that should be celebrated here at A Treat Life, I think this is it. And I have the most perfect recipe to go right along with the party. My Bourbon Brown Butter Pecan Apple Pie Blondies.

I’ll start this post off with the words of a friend who recently tried them….”One of the best things I’ve ever eaten.” I promise she wasn’t paid and had nothing to gain from buttering me up. (The bars were all gone.) Full disclosure, she’s one of my closest friends, but her opinions are always very honest. And not only did that comment warm me to the soul, but confirmed how I myself kind of felt about these. (I’m my own worst critic btw.) But these earn their praise.

Candy Craze Blondies

Quick, easy, melt-in-your mouth blondies, cookie bars, whatever you want to call them are never a bad thing. Right? It’s like chocolate chip cookie bliss (my absolute favorite treat in the world) paired with brownie-esque gooey perfection.

But then, enter these Candy Craze Blondies and you have double trouble. The same irrisitable blondie fabulous-ness but with some decadent chocolate candy additions folded in. These are good. A little sinful. But good.

Salted Butterscotch Apple Tart

This may only be the first weekend into fall, but I think it’s prefectly okay to possibly start thinking daydreaming about holiday desserts. Well, for me, that might be thanks to this Salted Butterscotch Apple Tart. After making this, I definitely had the holidays on my mind, especially Thanksgiving, as well as maybe a few other thoughts.

You know that brief moment when you stumble upon something you think might just be too good to share? Well that’s what happened after tasting one of my latest dessert recipes. But luckily, I quickly snapped out of it and remebered sharing is caring. And furthermore, that I had specifically created this to do just that….share, in the Apple Collaboration I’m taking part in hosted by fabulous fellow food bloggers, Britney at Britney Breaks Bread and Krissy at Eating with Krissy.

So here it is, my new favorite dessert creation and apple obsession. Maybe ever. And fittingly on this Johnny Appleseed Day. (Sorry for the drama, but this deserves it.)

Honeyed Fig & Yogurt Tart

I’m really excited to share today’s recipe with you. Let’s just call this fig week here at A Treat Life. The last post had figs, and the next one after this might too and maybe even the one after that (the season is fast and over soon.) And besides, I can’t get enough of them and I especially can’t get enough of this Honeyed Fig & Yogurt Tart. It’s true. I’ve made a few in the last couple weeks and making another one today as we speak.

In case you’re wondering what today’s tart might be for, or who it might be for, well, we are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary today. This guy’s actually been enduring my crazy self and lots of waiting to eat while I capture a picture of the food, or driving miles to try that special dish or newest dessert world creation for over 15 years. That’s a lot of not-so-warm-anymore meals and more importantly a lot of food adventures among many others. But he’s never complained and we’ve had a lot of fun over some amazing dishes and now have two hungry little additions to our team.
